Billingham South will continue to offer key worker provision next week but will NOT offer a wider re-opening for Nursery, Reception, Y1 or Y6 on the 8th June. I have made that decision (in conjunction with our Chair of Governors) because, having reviewed a wealth of information, I am not yet satisfied that the situation locally or nationally is safe enough for children, staff or families for our school to open more widely.

I really want to open school as soon as possible.

However, those that know me well will know that I place the safeguarding of pupils, staff and families before absolutely everything else.

If your child's name is down to be in a bubble- then they will remain on the list. The letter we sent out to inform you of how school will operate once open remains our position - that is how school will look IF/ WHEN we offer wider reopening.

We will review this decision next Thursday.

In fact, this decision is in line with the decision made by many other schools and councils locally and nationally. Billingham South continues to  support all pupils and families with work for home AND  continue to support families of key workers with childcare.

Welcome to Billingham South Community Primary School Website

Our school vision is:

Everybody Prepared and Inspired to be the Best they can be

Excellent Classrooms

Excellent Relationships

Hearts in Billingham and Eyes on the World

You will find our school vision displayed prominently around school.

On this website, you will find our policies, curriculum map, newsletters, twitter feed and photographs which show our vision in action.

We want to prepare our pupils for long term success by ensuring that they are happy and have a Growth Mindset. To encourage pupils to be happy, courageous, resilient, trustworthy and produce quality work; we award rainbow badges for the strongest ambassadors of happiness and a growth mindset.

The safety of the children at our school is our most important concern. We regularly review our safeguarding procedures and ensure all our staff receive training in child protection, PREVENT, dealing with various forms of bullying and online safety.

We believe success is achieved through 100% attendance and hard work. Our current school attendance target is 95.6%. There are so many rewards for children and classes who manage to achieve this goal and we will work with parents and the local attendance team where this target is proving hard to achieve.

I am so proud to be Head Teacher of this wonderful community primary school. In our school you will find a calm, purposeful atmosphere where everyone is encouraged to do their best. We have a thriving EYFS, a wonderful Additionally Resourced Provision (ARP) for children with cognition and learning difficulties and progress figures from Nursery to Y6 to be proud of. However, we are restless to do even better for our pupils and with the help of governors, parents, pupils and staff set a rigorous School Improvement Plan each year to aim for even more success.
