Butterfly World

Year 6 & Reception Visit to Butterfly World

Reception have been learning about wildlife and butterflies and Year 6 have been learning about life cycles and food chains. Year 6 were fabulous role models and took great care of the Reception children. Everyone who met us commented on our brilliant behaviour - well done everyone!

Year 6 World War 2 Day

Year 6 have been learning about the lives of children during WW2. We worked with Lynsey from Scouted and built shelters and fires and cooked corned beef hash on an open fire. We had a fabulous day.

Author Event

Year 2 attended an event at Yarm School. Author and illustrator Lydia Monks spent the morning answering questions from the children and drawing picture requests. She asked Billy to come up on stage to draw his idea... a spider on his  head! We all had a fantastic time and Lydia even signed a new book for us to keep.

Brass Event

The brass group attended a Musical Celebration at Yarm School. We were invited, along with lots of other schools and took part in musical games, sing alongs and then performed to parents and carers. The children had been working on their instruments since November so it was wonderful to see the progress they had made. We had our own Billingham South Brass Band!

Staff Training

All staff at Billingham South completed training led by Kate Hillyard from the Anti Bullying and Behaviour Service.

The Anti-Bullying and Behaviour Service give advice, support and strategies for young people, families and professionals when dealing with both bullying issues.  The training will allow us to continue to provide a safe and secure environment for all of the children in our care.

Dinosaur Zoo Year 1

To introduce Year 1 children to our latest topic 'Dinosaur Planet', a special educational trip took place.  The children went to visit some extraordinary creatures at the Royal Theatre in York...dinosaurs!  The Dinosaur Zoo Live Show was very interactive, some of our children had the opportunity of going on to the stage to pet the dinosaurs and tried hard not to be eaten by them!
