Science Week

Science Week 2017 at Billingham South has been a blast! Children have had the opportunity to carry out many hands on experiments. These were manned by our year 5 Science Ambassadors who did a super job. Children made a bath bombs and created packaging for them to take home later for Mother’s day. Children visited our own ‘Billy South Health Clinic’ which consisted of parents in the health profession. Thank you to all parents who gave up their time to talk about their profession. Children also took part in adaptation workshops/bird watching with Mrs Burns from Teesmouth Field Centre. They also saw and handled many amazing creatures/birds with Owl Adventures. To finish the week off, Engineers’ from Johnson Matthey came along and carried out amazing experiments using catalysts. There was a winner from each class for the Science competition and the work produced was amazing! Overall, a fun packed week where so much Science has took place.

Shakespeare Club

Our Y5 and 6 Shakespeare Club had a wonderful weekend in Stratford upon Avon!  We spent the weekend immersed in the history of Stratford upon Avon and the life of Shakespeare himself.  We visited his birthplace, the home of his wife and enjoyed a magical tour behind the scenes of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre.  We went to the church where Shakespeare had been baptised, married and buried.  The children listened to stories about his life during a guided tour of the town at night.  The children had the opportunity to take part in a drama workshop and rehearsed  a piece of Shakespeare to perform.  Everywhere we went the children were complimented on their excellent behaviour.  As usual a credit to themselves and their families.  We are now ready to start working towards our Summer production of Mid-Summer Nights Dream.

World Book Day

The children at Billingham South had yet another fantastic World Book Day!  From the Stick Man to the BFG, from Alice in Wonderful to the Fantastic Mr. Fox, the school was alive with a wonderful range of storybook characters.  The fun did not stop there as staff dressed up alongside the children and a great time was had by all.  The children shared each other’s success in assembly where first place class winners were chosen and were awarded a book.  A massive well done to all the children for dressing up and a huge thank you to all the parents for providing such super costumes.

Thank you once again, I hope you enjoy looking at our gorgeous photographs and don’t forget to use your £1 World Book Day token to enjoy even more reading!
