Stockton International Riverside Festival 2015

SIRF

We were delighted to again be invited to take part in Stockton’s prestigious International Riverside Festival.  The SIRF theme this year - ‘Instant Light!’ - celebrated Stockton’s history by portraying the Georgian era around the invention of the ‘friction match’ by chemist John Walker.  Using some historical truth, the Instant Light story, created by Sara Maitland, depicted how Stockton might have become a festival town with the visit by Vesta, a circus performer who had just arrived in town with her circus for the winter.  Our group worked with artists ‘Creative Seed’ to create friction match costumes.  The children worked hard on developing their costumes and thoroughly enjoyed taking part in the parade.
